„Our four Walls in times of non-Peace“

On September 6, 2026, we dedicate an en4re a5ernoon to the ques4on: “What images do we
want to work with?” Through a program of performances, readings, play ac4on, and talks, we
are introduced to forma4ve vocabularies and iconic images that expand everyday no4ons of
walls, borders, and closed up spaces. It is through the lens of the vulnerable and the experience
of migra4on that we might encounter walls—our walls—as zones for movement and means of
togetherness.

Unger, Eda Aslan, Róza El-Hassan, Dagmar Rauwald, Anna Lena Grau and many more.

14:15 Eda Aslan: Collec.ve reading Breathing the archive: readings on dust, residue and
memory
In her collec4ve reading Eda Aslan opens up her ar4s4c research on Sahara dust through a
dialogue with Agnes Denes and Carolyn Steedman. The Sahara dust is a mineral that spreads
through airways paths around the world. Through these airways, this maaer acts as a dual
pollutant and connector
15:00 Layla Unger: i – linienstück,
Immersive spaces and the blending of image and reality promise to bring us delightfully close to
the action, allowing us to become part of something and transcend boundaries. Is that really the
case? The relationship between near and far—as well as interior and exterior—is explored in
the drawing performance linienstück i.

15:30 Egana Djabbarova: User Manual for the Vercise Implantable Pulse Generator for Deep Brain Stimulation
At the core of the event is a live reading of a documentary poetry cycle written by Egana
Djabbarova, available in English translation by Hilah Kohen and German translation by Maria
Rajer. The piece serves as an intimate witness account where two distinct forms of alienation
converge: the medical vulnerability of a lifelong dystonia patient and the systemic displacement
of an immigrant navigating the asylum process in Germany.

16:30 Dagmar Rauwald: Un|inhabitable
The 15-minute performance translates the Chinese principle of an image that unfolds via
experience rather than a mathematical concept into a physical practice. The painting is no
longer merely viewed, but entered, inhabited, and performatively activated. A shift in
perspective takes place: It is not the body that looks at the painting—the body itself becomes
the perspective.

17:00 Conversation with the artists Róza El-Hassan, Dagmar Rauwald, Laila Unger and Egana
Djabbarova and Anna Lena Grau, moderation by Franziska Glozer
For HEIME, HÄUSER, BRUTSTÄTTEN, Skulptur Projekte Münster 27 artist Róza El-Hassan has
created a new wall drawing, giving her iconic sculpture 2 Buddhas visiting Hagar from 2004 a
new painterly horizon.
This talk will guide us through El Hassans, Dagmar Rauwalds, Laila Ungers and Egana
Djabbarovas iconic vocabularies and the artists‘ experiences with topics such as isolation,
vulnerability, borders, proximity and distance, and the question of shelter. We will explore
different approaches to working with images and get to know them as powerful tools to make
our world more tangible.

18:30: Join us for a meal of Soup and Salads & Bread

Children’s program:
During the afternoon Old and Young may craft their own Gargoyle Talisman out of clay to take
home or give as a gift to people who need protection. Inspired by the sculpture ensemble by
Anna Lena Grau at Eichtalpark Wandsbek (link) (on view till September 20th).

Für „Heime, Häuser, Brutstätten“ kommen Künstler:innen und Denker:innen zusammen um sich mit Alltagsvorstellungen von Schutzraum auseinanderzusetzen.

Aus welchem Stoff ist Schutz gewebt und wie sprechen Architekturen des privaten und öffentlichen Raums zu ihren Anwohner:innen?

Skulpturen, Installationen, Filme, Malerei und Performances in Ausstellungen im MOM Art Space und im hinterconti sowie an ausgewählten Orten in der Stadt Hamburg, thematisieren Verletzlichkeit und Widerständigkeit in unseren Wohn- und Lebensräumen. 

Ausgehend von Geschichte(n), die materiell und architektonisch verankert sind, eröffnen die Kunstarbeiten Zonen der Begegnung und des Perspektivwechsel. Ob durch die Verwendung von Fundstücken, die Arbeit mit verlassenen Orten und Architekturen oder die Beobachtung alltäglicher Szenarien aus dem eigenen Fenster – durch das behutsame Schieben der vier Wände eines Raums nach innen und nach außen, formieren sich vergangene und gegenwärtige Formen des Miteinanders in den jeweiligen künstlerischen Medien neu.

Eine Reihe an Gesprächen, Kunstaktionen & Workshops begleiten das Ausstellungsprogramm.

This multi-part exhibition Heime, Häuser, Brutstätten / homes, houses, hotbeds brings artists and thinkers together to challenge commonly held conceptions of shelter.

It asks from what fabric protection is woven from, and how architecture in private and public space can speak to the city’s inhabitants. Spread across two exhibitions in MOM Art Space and hinterconti as well as selected locations in the city of Hamburg, sculptures, installations, films, paintings, and participatory performances thematicize vulnerability and resistance within our home and living spheres. 

Jumping off from histories that are materially and architecturally grounded, the works open up zones of movement and changes in perspective. By using found objects, working with abandoned sites and architecture or through observing everyday scenarios from one’s own window – moving the four walls of a room gently inwards and outwards – the exhibition series reconfigures past and present forms of togetherness across the artists’ respective mediums.

A series of talks, art actions, and workshops accompany the exhibition program.
