The duo exhibition ‘PRETTY WOMAN (cheating the concept of time)’ offers a glimpse into the exciting dialogue between Hamburg-based intermedia artist Franziska Nast and London-based  art director and artist Eszter Magyar, who has a background in makeup. The exhibition addresses the topic of beauty, exploring both historical and contemporary questions ofself-representation. Who counts as “pretty,” and who decides? How do social media, filters, tutorials, and the endless parade of role models shape our ideas? According to whose
imagination do we transform the image we wish to see of ourselves, and where does our real face remain? Where are the boundaries between natural beauty and over-stylized masks,
between affirmation and coercion? In her multidisciplinary practice, Franziska Nast places intimacy, memory, and failure at the center of her work, while Eszter Magyar uses makeup to question societal beauty norms and to offer her own distinctive responses. Both artists examine the body as a surface onto which different elements of our identity are projected, inscribed, or displayed.
